About Me

I am starting this blog because so many people ask me on a daily basis, "How do you do that?" So I guess this is my DIY (Do It Yourself) site. God has placed many people and experiences in my path that have taught me valuable things that I feel need to be shared. So this blog is designed to share those experiences with you. One of the most important things that I have learned and live by today is: Work Smarter Not Harder!

I am a truely blessed woman and I have proof. I have been with my husband for over 23 years and together we have created three of the the most amazing boys you would ever want to meet. Our oldest, Zachariah is 22 years old, our middle son, Jacob is 11, and our youngest, Elijah is 8. We also have a few family pets, Pepe La Peu, a toy poodle and Rex & Scratchy, who are red slider turtles.

I worked in the financial industry for over 15 years and owned a few successful business' along the way. My husband and I lived the American dream and we had a lot of debt to prove it. While living that dream we lost sight of what was really important. Our children were being raised by childcare providers, and we were becoming slaves to our material posessions. The stress was overwhelming and it was destroying our family.

So my husband and I made a plan. We sold our business, sold a number of assets, removed luxury expenses (ex. satellite radio, premium cable, 5 cell phones, cleaning lady), researched ways to cut expenses (ex. auto, home & life insurance, food, clothing), refinanced our home and we used the money that we earned and saved to pay off our debt. Our debt was so large that I continued to work for another year using the money that I earned to finish paying off our debt, while my husbands income was used to pay the current monthy expenses. Once our debt was gone (other than our house) I quit my management position and was now a home schooling, stay at home mom.

I met this new challenge with a lot of personal resistance and depression. Domestic Goddess I am not. I knew who I was and what my roll was when I worked outside of the home and I couln't emotionally get my mind wrapped around my new roll. I tried and tried but I was failing and failing bad.

Then one day when I was praying, I got an answer! I was a successful business woman outside the home, why not use those same principals in the home. Everyone knows that a successful company has a solid business plan and isn't a family like a small business? So I began developing a business plan for our family, which my husband quickly jumped on board with. Then we gave ourselves titles, we were Co-CEO's.

Throughout this blog I will be sharing our mission statement, policies and procedures, job descriptions, family meetings, budgets, and general business practices that we have tailored to meet our families needs. I will also show you how create your own family business plan and show you ways to save money, couponing is one of my favorites!

First, let me congratulate you on this, your latest venture. I wish you the best of success, and knowing you as I do, I know it will be everything you have dreamed of and prayed for. While the Lord may work in mysterious ways, there is no mystery surrounding you and your eagerness to "give back" and help others.

Secondly, YOU GO GIRL!!! lol I just had to say that. I am so proud of you and look forward to walking with you on this journey.

Lastly, to all the current and future subsribers: Robin and I have been friends for 13 years. We have seen each other through many highs and lows in life, fought many battles (not with each other) and have always bounced back. Some challenges we fought together and some lead us down separate paths. Robin is my dearest friend and one who I trust implicity, especially my children.

We have shared our greatest pleasures and blessings: The pregnancies and subsequent births of her two youngest children, and my two children, both of which who are only 2 months apart. Oh those were the days.

Our friendship is strong, and one thing I can say is Robin continues to inspire me. There have been times when I was short on faith and Robin pulled me back up. Her faith has never waivered and for this, I am doubly blessed.

If you are fortunate to become a part of her inner circle, I pray you trust her, respect her, treat her as she treats you, and can learn from her and be inspired by her. She is one incredible lady and I am blessed to have her in my life.

In closing, I love you Robin. Good luck my friend...I am praying for you, your family and the bright future ahead.

    Love,
    Valorie
